There have been a number of announcements in the GRC space recently, especially in e-Discovery. Among them are the new e-Discovery capabilities in Office 2013 and the release of OpenText’s InfoFusion. Otherwise, Modus releases Early Insights, LockPath upgrades Keylight, while Catalyst and Rimkus partner.
Office 2013 E-Discovery
Over the past week one of the really big events was the SharePoint conference in Las Vegas. Obviously, all things SharePoint 2013 were on show with a number of items doing the rounds including SharePoint governance software, migration tools and all kinds of other management applications.
In the coming months, one of the application events will be the general release of Office 2013 and all the new features that appear to be on the way with it.
New applications mean new challenges, Mike Ferrara, who was at the conference, had a look at Office 2013 and some of the e-Discovery issues around it. He sat in on a session by Quentin Christensen, Program Manager at Microsoft, to see exactly what features will be available to end users, and he found that Microsoft has indeed joined in the e-Discovery fray in this release and is now pushing a unified offering across the entire Office platform.
OpenText InfoFusion
Running in parallel to the SharePoint conference, OpenText was also having its customer conference in Florida. There were a number of interesting announcements including the release of the OpenText Cloud.
In the information discovery space, it also announced the release of InfoFusion designed to give enterprises a handle on the unstructured information that is floating around the enterprise.
By some estimates, 80% of information in the enterprise is now unstructured and represents one of the biggest untapped sources of business value for enterprises at the moment. OpenText InfoFusion is designed to break down corporate information silos and discover all that information that should be working for the enterprise.
With it, users get data integration, content migration, data archiving and legacy decommissioning tools that allow organizations to discover, analyze and act on information throughout their enterprise.
LockPath Keylight v3.0
Also over the week, GRC vendor LockPath has upgraded Keylight to v3.0 and says that the big improvements here are better reporting capabilities, substantial content integration enhancements as well as more sensitive content assessment abilities.
Using a newly designed interface, it simplifies reporting on content issues across the entire enterprise and enables users to create charges and graphs for enterprise users enabling them see where and how their content is being used.
This content is represented in real-time previews that allow users to see their reports as they are being built and as the user adds or subtracts new fields, flattens reports and applies filters to the report presentation.
But that’s not all. In this version of Keylight, users can create customized tables and fields through the Keylight Vendor Manager application, which also enables more sensitive GRC assessments as users apply more streamlined fields to collections of data.
